Three questions:
What is your teaching and general work experience, and do you have a teaching certificate, at least TEFL?
What are your goals - teaching professionally or teaching as a means to live abroad or other?
Would you consider anything outside Prague?
The answers to these make a big difference! Also, if you are from an EU country then it will be easy for you to deal with your paperwork and you can contract individually with businesses and private students, but if you are American then I think you should look for a school (private business or state "gymnazium" - high school) that will take you through the visa process.
I'll PM you with more detail and suggestions. _________________ "... And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth." |

hi thanks for taking the time to reply. i am now currentlyu in prague and still on the lookout for work. to answer your questions, i am CELTA qualified, British but without much experience. to be honest i'm trying to stray away from business language studios, i would like to find something abit more motivating and challenging....
any way thanks for taking the time to write and let me know if you know of any posts that come up!

Don't worry, even a brilliant polyglot globetrotter like you will find challenges in teaching full-time! When I describe a school as "private business" I mean any school that is not run by the state.
As many other posters have said, those may range from excellent to total scam and from catering to businesses with an ever-changing, impersonal stable of teachers, to offering general courses (like mine, but I don't know of any others that focus on community and mutual support like the Christian school where I work does), to teaching post-gymnazium students who want to stay in school while preparing for university. What kind of challenging and motivating work did you have in mind?
I saw a few interesting listings recently on www.expats.cz. Good luck searching. _________________ "... And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth." |
