Too many people are spreading the lie that you must have a TEFL or TESOL certificate to teach in China.
This is a big fat lie and they need this lie in order to sell you an expensive TEFL or TESOL course.

Sure, taking a TEFL or TESOL course will improve your teaching skills but less than 400 schools/learning centers out of some 20,000 in China ask for these certificates, and less than 5% of expat foreign teachers in China hold them.

Because job agents and recruiters are offered substantial commissions if they can enroll you in a TESOL or TEFL course, they too help spread the lie. Please visit these links to learn the truth about teaching in China, and remember...People that lie to you will also cheat you.

CFTU is correct. I called SAFEA's office in Beijng and a supervisor named Song told me these lies cause them to get over 100 emails every day from teachers asking about the "new requirements" and in reality they have had no TEFL certificate requirement for years! Theyare talking about this topi on Reddit right now. https://www.reddit.com/r/TEFL_ESL_SCAMS/
