|
|
Hello Readers,
I recently read an article about bullies in the workplace that reported that 1 in 6 people surveyed had been bullied by someone at work. While some countries have laws protecting employees against verbal or physical abuse, few people who get stuck in such a situation know what to do.
According to the website below, these are the tell-tale signs of a bully:
Shouting and Swearing
Instantaneous rages over trivial matters
Punishments dispensed out of the blue
Ignoring other people's points of view
Personal insults and name-calling
Persistent criticism
Persistently setting unrealistic deadlines
Spreading malicious rumours
Constantly moving goal posts and withholding information
Ostracising, Ignoring, excluding and freezing people out
Making threats
Removing responsibility
Allocating menial tasks

What would you do if you were bullied? Answer our poll below. If you have been a victim of a bully at work, feel free to share your comments on this post or on www.esl-lesson-plan.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you! _________________ Carol Rueckert
