(School name removed) China, in the Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou, will promise you a Z Visa, make you wait for months while it is being processed, then come back with an F Visa. In the meantime, you will be harassed while in classes that are nothing but dog and pony shows for parents and don't have the objective of learning. As the Korean "boss" (as he insists on being called) (name removed) constantly says, "this is business". He has no regard for the teachers, nor do the students. Your classes will be interrupted and usurped by (name removed) who only wants the students to scream in unison. He has no clue how to actually teach.
You will be made to solicit for the school at 6:30 AM, and continue to recruit students until there are 200 students with only 3 teachers. You will be reprimanded at whim, put on display when it suits him to lead screaming sessions, and given OT while not being paid for it.
There will be no heat during the freezing winter, except for the space heater that he alone hovers over. Lights will be turned out while you are in the bathroom, along with no TP or soap because this "saves money". Projectors will be unplugged and lights turned off right before you need them for classes. There will be rats in the filthy office, and bugs circling random rooms full of garbage. You will have to fight tooth and nail to get any supplies from him or his Chinese wife and family. You will be sent by bus to schools far away, early in the morning by crowded city buses without being compensated for the ride. When you get to the schools, the number of students will be double what the contract stipulates is the maximum. As if all of this is not bad enough, and running counter to the contract, you will constantly have your end of the unjust contract thrown in your face. Just don't let it be a Jewish face, or you will hear bigoted tales from the owner of world domination.
Also, when your apartment is full of the former resident's things, it is missing minor items like working lights, and does not have the heating/ac as promised excepts for one room, you will be told, repeatedly, "this is China".
When you ask to leave after finally getting the wrong visa back, you will be told that you need to wait over two more months until new teachers can be hired. Why should you care that it is not the proper visa? None of the other teachers ever did. And, don't dare wonder why no one is ever registered with the police until forced to, or why two sets of books are being used and the wrong one is being shown to the bribed authorities. And don't even think of complaining or you will be resented and despised, you spoiled foreigner! (BTW- you better be white, because if you lie when asked up front on the phone, you better turn right back around)
When you roll out as soon as you can to avoid a confrontation with an unreasonable man, don't be surprised when you are blackmailed and told that you must pay $2000 to the school or have your passport, other personal info, reputation and legal security compromised. Again, even though they wanted you gone since you actually asserted yourself enough to ask for the bare minimum, you will still be blamed for being a traitor.
It's all part of the wonderful employment package graciously offered by
(School name removed) China.
This is a "Total Lost Cause"!

| Sounds typical. I've had the same kind of experiences with KBS-Canipac, CBA-Hangshai, Gink Reogeg International College-Hangshai, IBEW-Hangshai, PhonguaLinge, Learson-Pongman, Sorrim-Nalle and WayoEur. Welcome to China! |

Contrary to popular belief NO ONE makes you stay at a substandard school. You CAN leave at any time.
So why did you stay? |

Contrary to the understanding of this poster, most of us in such circumstances leave these employers as soon as possible.
So why did you presume that we stayed? |
