Hello. I passed my CELTA in Nov 2008 and have an English degree. Unfortunately, I sorta lost my nerve after doing my CELTA and didn't apply for any jobs. I did a few weeks in a summer camp last summer, but nothing since.
Is it going to be really difficult for me to get a job due to this? I've built up my confidence since then and really want to do it now. |

You don't have to keep proving yourself. You are well qualified. Now go and teach.
You were teaching last Summer and you've being doing volunteer work ever since. You have experience but you want more. Use your new found confidence and get out there and sell yourself. You are worth it...
You are ready to earn some cash but don't take the first job that comes along because I suspect you will get plenty offers...

| I have sympathy with Lusucanna. It would seem that all positions advertised carry a requirement for between 1 and 5 years teaching experience. If you cannot satisfy this specific requirement when applying for a job, the majority of agencies or schools don't even bother to reply. Failure to reply is, in itself, inexcusable unless the advertiser makes it clear that only short-listed applications will be acknowledged. As someone who would like to teach business English as a second career after 40 years in engineering and management, I realise now that I should have researched the recruitment process before investing in a CELTA course. |

| Hmm, i think it depends what countries you are trying. most in Asia don't give a hoot about experience. They are very document oriented. A degree and a Celta will get you very far! |
