Hello Everyone,
I am in the process of looking for a Masters TESOL Prog on the East Coast of the US. Can someone give me an idea of where to start or what programs are generally well respected and established?
Thanks,
J-Bird |

Hello.
Check out the University of Georgia in Athens. It's ranked within the top 5 for the nation for English Language.
I'm currently doing my PhD in ESL there now and love it!
Athens is a great town! |

Jeremy / J-Bird,
Look no further than the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. That's right, the town is Indiana, the state is Pennsylvania. The school is actually older than Indiana U and has no affiliation to either that school or U Penn.
Anyway, IUP has an excellent and well-respected Masters of TESOL program. It's affodability and summers-only option make it a great choice. I'll include the link below, please investigate at your leisure.

You'll also notice that IUP has a doctoral program in TESOL as well which is both very popular and very well known. IUP has a large population of overseas students getting their Ph.D.s there as well. The best part is you can still get to the East Coast in under a half-day's drive.
Let me know if you're interested and maybe I can connect you with some people who can give you more information on the TESOL graduate program.
Good luck on the Master's degree search! Let us know what program you chose and why!
With kind regards,
Lee

Whatever you do, definitely be sure to get a US-based degrees. Cookie Cutter certs abound in the industry, and frankly, nobody knows the difference amongst employers. You'll be lucky if your employer can distinguish between a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree, and if he knows what the RSA is then he's really doing his homework. So think of hte value of your degree after you finish college, not during your ESL teaching career.
Here look at this post you'll see what I mean on the cookie cutter thing, this guy is write:

In this guy's profile he calls himself a war veteran of the field so I would assume he's been around a while and knows what's currently wanted by employers |
