Does anyone else know what you can do with your ESL certification besdies teaching ESl? Are there any other options to work in a Consulate, for example?
Still looking for information about teaching English or French in Zagreb, Croatia.

A good place to start, where English is concerned, is the British Council, and this applies to any country. Their web address for Croatia is below and you will find their Zagreb contact information in the About Us drop down menu. Send them an email and I am sure they will help you.

From what I've been able to read on the country, I understand that Croatia is not exactly a hot spot for ESL Teachers. I would love to work in this country but have not found any openings posted. I did contact the British Council but their response was not at all helpful or encouraging. My gut feeling is to show up and 'pound the streets'. I hope you go there and do tell the rest of us about your experiences.

Hi there! Yes, I have been living and working in Zagreb, Croatia for almost 5 years. For those who would like to know more about job application here as an ESL teacher, please remember that one of the hurdles that you will have to go through is the processing of working visa and permit. Ofcourse we are talking about the usual bureaucractic procedures here. In Croatia, your employer is the one who is supposed to work on these. Just a piece of advice, try to find a good employer who 's willing to go through working visa sponsorship for you. You may try : www.mojposao.net ( click the English version).

I hope that my posting here has helped some teachers who would like to try to land into a job in Croatia.
All the best to you! Laughing
