I am currently studying an online TESOL course and wish to take up teaching . I have read several hundred forums and one thing puzzles me. Alot of people say that you should have a degree to go along with your TESOL/TEFL/TESL certificate.
Now I have a B.A. in English from a College, is that the same in the TESOL world as having a B.A. in English from a university ? Are any "degrees" looked at the same? |

One of the biggest reasons for the degree is for immigration purposes, although some employers may look at individual degrees differently. You cannot, for example, get a teaching visa for Korea or Japan without a degree, whether or not the employer wants to hire you.
As to whether your degree is adequate, as long is it is a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution it should be fine.
