Hi All

I am a newbie to the forum, and joined as I am seriously thinking about doing a TEFL course and then emigrating to France to use my new skills!

My question is this: what is the best course I can or should take to enable me to realise my dream? There are so many options online I am getting quite confused.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I am a 51 year old male, with no previous teaching experience. But I do have 30 years experience of face to face business sales, and on untold occasions have made presentations to small and large groups of people, so I have no worries there.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Mark

There are a lot of courses. The best ones give you supervised teaching practice. The experience of teaching, coupled with the feedback from your supervisors can really help you understand more about teaching. CELTA is one of the better known and recognised courses. I did mine through SIT, and I was very happy with it. It still took a long time before I was really confident and comfortable with my teaching skills. You are lucky that you have lots of experience talking in public. That will really help you. I still feel a little nervous when I stand in front of a new class at the beginning of each new year.
