Hi,

I'm an undergraduate student currently in my last semester, and I've been considering the English teaching route. Although English is not my native language, I speak it well (TOEFL 116). I have noticed that many recruiters require their potential employees to be citizens of the US/UK/Canada/Ireland/South Africa/Australia/NZ... are there any options out there for someone who is NOT a citizen of those countries?

I am specifically interested in teaching in Korea, if that makes any difference.

Thank you!

Hey...so glad that somebody else has asked this, as I am in the same predicament... I completed my TEFL course online and got my degree in Literature and Law in South Africa...English is my first language and I and have been put through the Cambridge schooling system ever since I stepped out of diapers. I've also got two and a half years of teaching experience at a Cambridge Primary school and am currently trying to raise the funds to complete my PGCE and thus have begun my search for TEFL jobs abroad....

Problem: I have a Malawian Passport...many countries seem to furrow their brows as soon as I mention that...Any ideas about where can I teach??! I was also looking at Korea as a starting option...
