Hello,
I'm looking to pursue a graduate masters abroad-possibly in Europe or in the UK. I have no teaching experience but many years (unrelated) professional experience. I'm trying to decide between a Masters in TESOL or a Masters in Applied Linguistics, and have no academic resources with whom I can seek advice. Ideally, my goal is to become a professor teaching (either ESL or Linguistics) at a university abroad, or perhaps to teach ESL to adults in a school/corporate setting. I wish to leave the option open to potentially pursue the PhD route if that's what suits me. So my questions are: Would a graduate degree in TESOL prevent me from obtaining a PhD in Linguistics? I don't know if having a Masters in TESOL can be continued with a PhD in Linguistics. Also, is Applied Linguistics too general a degree if I wish to teach ESL to adults in some setting or another when a degree in TESOL might be more applicable? I have a lot of options regarding where I can live and how far to take my schooling, so any input would be most appreciated! Thank you! |

I think its all depend upon your interest. Because while selecting career interest is very necessary to get success in it. At the same time hard work as welll. |
