So I'm looking for an employer and I came across Can Go China as a potential employer. A prelim net search shows that 2 people report they sent applications to them and they haven't heard back. This information could be used to apply for credit and loans around the world.
They sent me some info about them and they hire all types of educators from elementary to college and adult education.
Basically, I'm getting desperate to go anywhere in the world as long as I get paid and see the world. However, I don't want to get stuck in a situation where I end up in a hostile environment for low wages.
If you have any info about Can Go China, please let me know. |

Nevermind. I've cast my lot with a Chinese employer who decided to put my application in the "delay" file. Now I'm working part-time in the U.S. in the usual crappy job. A lot of my colleagues are in the same situation. |

On any given day, at least a thousand people (maybe more) have doubts and questions about a Chinese employer, school, recruiter, company visa agent, etc. and since China does not have a BBB or FTC or any other commercial watchdog agency people are forced to roll the dice and take their chances. At least that's what I used to think until about two weeks ago when I went to a seminar given by the China Teachers Alliance who had a guest speaker (Kevin) from China Scam Patrol which has been doing due diligence in China since 2008. Kevin showed us all how to check out a company in less than an hour online and on the telephone for free as follows:
1) Ask the company to give you their SAIC and SAFEA registration numbers. If they refuse or are unable to give you these two numbers, they are not legitimate and you should not waste your time talking to them further.
2) If they do provide these numbers move on to step two and use this 25 point checklist:
3) If you are a teacher looking for an honest employer or recruiter, check these three websites.

If you are planning to live in China, I really suggest you visit this website which lists the 25 top scams that fool most foreigners and can cause you to lose BIG bucks, not just a couple hundred dollars.

Interpol reports that over 6,000 people a month report getting swindled visiting or working in China. Since I started following the above protocol, I am confident that I won't be joining that victim list. I vet every company I do work for and my partner who is a full-time English teacher does the same. |
