Going to teach in China? Then you need to make yourself scam-proof first. How?
1 hour of reading will do it...

China is a minefield of scams friends. I just finished my second year here and I am leaving without a second thought. If you decide to go anyway, be sure to make sure your employer and recruiter are not on this blacklist: https://www.scam.com/showthread.php?704467-UPDATED-China-Liars-List-ESL-TEFL-Teacher-Job-Scams-Internships-Exporters-etc-BLACKLIST

2021 UPDATE: TEFL teachers, and all foreign teachers for that matter need to update their due diligence toolkit especially when it comes to Asia and China in Particular. Since 2008 The China Scam Patrol has been tracking and exposing over 1,200 scam artists (397 we managed to get shut down). Here are the links you guys need to stay out of harm's way...

And when it comes to TEFL courses, our 6 month investigation shows that the most legit and beneficial courses are those given by an accredited university. It s very easy to become a scam victim in Asia and and more so in China. Be careful and have fun guys.

I just spent an hour reviewing posts at the China Scam Patrol Reddit sub and feel 10 times safer teaching in China now. I know their main business is doing commercial due diligence for companies but their volunteer community service posts are worth their weight in gold. https://www.reddit.com/r/ChinaScamPatrol/

So now I just want to say to these expat China vets...
