Hi, I've been offered a contract at the ILS school in Bucheon through a recruitment agency called longbridgepacific, do any of you have any experiences of dealing with either this school (my interview was with a woman called Ellisa) or this recruitment agency? As this is my first job offer i'm a little apprehensive to accept as I cannot find too much information about the school on the internet so any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Alabbey

Welcome to the forum.

I emailed LONGBRIDGE PACIFIC and they hadn't heard of Elissa and the reply, to my email, was sent from a David Martin?

Would you send me the link to the advertisement and any contact telephone and email addresses and I will check it out. Often the scammers use legitimate school names and web sites but their own email addresses and telephone numbers.

I also found an old job listing with Elissa as the contact person here

http://www.eslpro.com/jpn/member/Content.php3?Num=14134&BoardName=esl

and the website address is given as

http://www.ilsk.co.kr/

There are many ILS schools in Korea and this seems to be their main website.

The position I was offered was given through a series of e mails, the first was responded to by David Martin, then after that a guy called Fred. It all started from getting their contact details on their website http://www.longbridgepacific.com/. As i've been unable to find any details on the school and nothing good about the recruiters I think i'm going to give this one a miss. I do my CELTA course at the end of June and although I believe Korean schools are recruiting now for August I think that maybe I'm rushing into the thing and should wait and discuss with lecturers on the CELTA course. Also something that struck me as odd was the contract I was e mailed isn't on headed paper, no company number etc... is this the norm for recruiters and am I just being paranoid?

Thank you for your reply Union Jack appreciate it.

Hey, I used to work for ILS in Bucheon a year ago (I stumbled on this because I was looking for their address for an application). They're great, Ellisa is super nice and went to school in the US. You don't have to be paranoid at all. Everybody that's ever worked there went through LongBridge and Fred. I was doing the same thing you are right now when I first went, but no worries. They are completely legit. If you accept the offer, tell them Derek Teacher says hi.
