PSA: To my fellow TEFL Teachers World-Wide;

Yes, you can earn a lot of money teaching in China because of the shortage of foreign teachers caused by the closed border situation due to the COVID19 Pandemic. HOWEVER... do not sign any China teacher employment contract until you read this carefully https://www.docdroid.net/9eTuyGK/cftunewsletter125-pdf

I did a lot of research after reading this since I had already taught in China for two years and just realized it is all true but I could not do squat about it because I was talked into working illegally without a Z visa by a recruiter. I also think anyone who wants to work in China needs to know everything so they don't get arrested, thrown in jail, and deported like my roomie was.

Thank you for one of the most useful posts I ever found on any forum on line. Your links made me aware of stuff I never even thought about before. I just used those tips to negotiate my 2021 renewal contract and not only did a get a free apartment thrown in, but got a $6.500 increase in my annual pay. Thanks again Durango! Dinner is on me if you ever come to Beijing.
